These hearing devices are engineered to work with your iPhone, iPad® and iPod touch®, so FaceTime® and phone calls, music, videos and more stream directly into your hearing aids with pristine sound quality – no background buzzing and whistling.
Estes Audiology is one of the select offices in the United States to offer Lyric Hearing to our patients. Lyric is comfortably placed in the ear canal by a Lyric trained hearing professional and can be worn 24 hours a day, seven days a week, months at a time. Lyric is the first extended wear hearing device that is 100% invisible.
No surgery or anesthesia is required. Because it remains in the ear canal 24/7 for months at a time, you don’t need to worry about daily hassles like putting the device on or taking it off, or changing batteries. Lyric can be used during your daily activities, such as exercising, showering, talking on the phone, and sleeping.
Digital Hearing Aids and Styles
DIGITAL signal processing technology is the most sophisticated hearing aid technology in today’s market. All hearing aids provided at Estes Audiology offer the latest advances in the industry. The range of technology is varied and recommendations for which type of digital hearing solution is best for an individual is based on each person’s unique hearing loss and communication needs.
Estes Audiology carries several styles and brands of hearing aids, and will work with you to provide the best fit for your needs and lifestyle. Daily wear styles of hearing aids include:
IIC hearing aids are similar, smaller devices that fit in the bottom half of the bowl of the ear. These models are not easily seen when in the ear. IIC aids are the least visible in-the-ear hearing aid models.
CIC hearing aids fit inside the ear and out of sight, making them virtually undetectable. Completely In Canal hearing aids are suitable for many levels of hearing loss.
RIC hearing aids are behind-the-ear devices that place the speaker directly in the ear, often without a custom ear mold. Improved sound quality can be an advantage of RIC devices. “Open-fit” technology means RIC devices do not always require a custom ear piece. In some cases an ear mold, fit to an individual’s ear is necessary for the best result to be attained from a RIC hearing aid.
BTE hearing aids are also used for varying degrees of hearing loss. The electrical components are located outside the ear, reducing the chance of damage caused by moisture and earwax, which can help the hearing aid last longer. BTEs have become smaller and lighter over the past few years and are barely noticeable behind the ear, or not noticeable when hair is covering the devices. BTEs can be fit as an “Open Fit”. In some cases an ear mold, fit to an individual’s ear is necessary for the best result to be attained from a BTE hearing aid.
CROS and BICROS Hearing Aids
CROS and BICROS hearing aids are innovative technology, allowing a user with profound or complete hearing loss in one ear to hear sounds from the non-hearing side in the better ear. The system sends sound wirelessly from the non-hearing side (via a CROS transmitter) to a discreet sound receiver on the hearing ear. No longer do you have to miss something said on the ‘wrong’ side. No more will you have to say “talk in to my good ear”.
